Critical Reflection Academy.

Developing a Long-Term Peer- to-Peer Mentoring Program for Educators & Counselors in the fields of Migration and Employability.

Introduction.

The Critical Reflection Academy project aimed to delve into the concept of critical reflection within the educational context. Critical reflection involves educators systematically analyzing and evaluating their teaching practices, beliefs, and values to gain a deeper understanding of pedagogy and its impact on learners. This process includes questioning assumptions, considering diverse perspectives, and exploring ways to enhance teaching effectiveness and learner outcomes, particularly in the context of cultural, social, and emotional aspects of learning.

Project Objectives.

About the Working Group.

The primary goal of the project was to foster transformation and growth among educators by creating networks of peer support and communities of critical practice. In collaboration with non-formal education (NfE), migrant-led/focused NGOs, and Eurobug, the project engaged 25 educators in a long-term program of critical reflection.

In the early months of the project, a Working Group was formed to ensure that the educational program, comprising a training course and an online peer-to-peer reflection program, effectively addressed the specific needs and challenges of educators working in the field of migration. The group consisted of seven representatives from partner organizations, including the two non-formal education trainers dedicated to this project. Over the course of three days in Merkine, Lithuania, these representatives collaborated to lay the groundwork for the project's educational initiatives.

Eurobug's Contribution.

Eurobug played a crucial role as partners in this project, contributing their expertise and insights to the exploration of critical reflection in education. Notably, the project was coordinated by CGE - Culture Goes Europe, Eurobug's esteemed German partners. This collaborative effort reflects the commitment of Eurobug and its partners to advancing educational practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the realm of migration-focused education. As the project progresses, the combined efforts of all partners, including Eurobug, are expected to significantly impact educational methodologies and approaches, creating lasting positive change within the participating educational communities.
