"Theater as a Collective Language"
Project Overview.
The project titled "Theater as a Collective Language" was a small-scale partnership in which Eurobug actively participated as a partner organization. The initiative aimed to research, develop, and disseminate a methodology for engaging and integrating migrants through non-verbal theater methods. Recognizing the advantages of non-verbal approaches in pedagogy, particularly for immigrant and refugee groups with potential challenges in verbal communication, the project sought innovative methodologies usable by adult educators in the social, civic, and cultural spaces of theater.

Project Objectives.
The fundamental idea was to create a methodology enabling migrants to express themselves creatively and engage in meaningful encounters with others within a social context. This approach was especially relevant given that migrants, who might not yet be able to express themselves verbally, often face challenges in social interactions. Social contact with the local community and individual expression were identified as crucial components for migrants to feel at home in a new place, thereby enhancing their integration.
Context and Need.
The project recognized that while the European Commission supported new-migrant-specific adult education through initiatives like the EU Action Plan on the integration of Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), additional measures were necessary. The project asserted that meaningful communication through the arts, particularly theater, could enhance the development of mutual respect and understanding, thereby overcoming cultural differences.
Eurobug's Involvement.
Eurobug played a pivotal role as a partner organization in this project, contributing expertise and dedication to the exploration of non-verbal theater methods for migrant integration. The organization actively worked toward fostering meaningful communication and creative self-expression among young migrants, with the aim of providing a pathway for more sustainable and effective integration.
As the project has been completed, Eurobug, alongside other partners, contributed to the collective effort to enhance the integration of migrants through innovative pedagogical approaches. The outcomes of this initiative are expected to have a lasting impact on the development of methodologies for engaging migrants in the social, civic, and cultural spaces of theater.
